Opportunity Abounds as the TEKsystems and Per Scholas Education Partnership Expands to Orlando

May 18, 2022 | HANOVER, MD

Partnership offers tuition-free technology courses with high success rates in tech-heavy markets, now in Sunshine State

TEKsystems®, a global provider of technology, business and talent solutions for more than 80% of the Fortune 500, and Per Scholas, a nationally recognized leader in tech workforce skills training, today announced the expansion of their transformative partnership with customized courses at a new campus in Orlando, Florida. This follows the success of the partnership’s training programs conducted in several major U.S. cities that provide tuition-free education focused on technology and bridging the diverse talent gap in the tech industry.

Since 2015, TEKsystems and Per Scholas have partnered to provide access to opportunity for those underrepresented in the tech industry, offering customized training in Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and Seattle. Today, there are more IT job openings than people who can fill them—6.5 times more openings. This partnership seeks to change that by building pipelines for individuals to gain in-demand skills while increasing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) in the technology workforce.

“There are many motivated, talented individuals who want to pursue a career in technology but might not have a four-year degree or access to do so,” says Faith Rottmann Johnson, vice president of human resources at TEKsystems. “Our partnership with Per Scholas enables us to build pathways for these individuals and prepare them to ultimately find career success. We're proud to help shape the future of the IT industry and will continue to create opportunities for those who have been underrepresented in tech careers for far too long.”

Aligned with its commitment to DEIB, 85% of Per Scholas learners are people of color, and more than one-third identify as women. TEKsystems and Per Scholas look forward to building on Orlando’s growing tech market and community. “At Per Scholas, we believe a thriving workforce starts with equitable access to education, and we’re committed to increasing access and closing the opportunity gap. Launching Per Scholas Orlando, together with our transformational partner TEKsystems, is really thrilling, and I’m looking forward to all the good we’ll achieve together in the Sunshine State,” says Damien Howard, chief enterprise solutions officer at Per Scholas.

Providing tuition-free access to accelerated training in the industry based on growing market demand enables learners who may have otherwise faced difficulties pursuing careers in IT to change their own trajectory. To enhance the experience of Per Scholas learners, TEKsystems recruiters lead resume and interview coaching during each course. Graduates then have access to the same recruiters who provide them with a direct connection to in-demand employment opportunities in the tech industry.

Each training course is 10–15 weeks with a full-time commitment: 30-plus hours a week in a classroom and an additional 10–20 hours of studying. Training courses for Orlando are available. To learn more about Per Scholas Orlando and to apply, click here.
