TEKsystems Again Named Top Scorer in 2021 Disability Equality Index

July 13, 2021 | HANOVER, MD

TEKsystems recognized for a third straight year for workplace access, inclusion.

TEKsystems®, a provider of full-stack technology services that address the pressing strategy, implementation and talent needs for more than 80% of the Fortune 500, today announced it has been named as a top scorer in the 2021 Disability Equality Index®Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion” by the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and Disability:IN®.

TEKsystems has always been committed to creating an inclusive work environment where employees with different abilities feel a sense of belonging as they contribute to business success. TEKsystems offers a variety of employee resource groups (ERGs) and employee networks (ENs) to foster an inclusive workplace, such as ENABLED, an affinity group that empowers differently abled individuals in the workplace. TEKsystems also supports local charities and communities through their match assistance program and corporate partnerships with organizations that include the Association of University Centers on Disabilities, Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation and Foundation Fighting Blindness.

“At TEKsystems, we value the diverse backgrounds, life experiences and individuality of all our employees,” said Franklin Reed, executive director of inclusion and diversity at TEKsystems. “We’re committed to providing equal opportunity and building and supporting diverse teams, and we’re grateful to be recognized for our inclusive culture.”

Launched in 2015, the Disability Equality Index (DEI) is the world’s most comprehensive benchmarking tool, allowing America’s leading corporations to measure their disability workplace inclusion policies and practices. Scoring criteria include culture and leadership, enterprise-wide access, employment practices (benefits, recruitment, employment, education, retention and advancement, accommodations), community engagement, supplier diversity and non-U.S. operations (nonweighted). In response to the global pandemic, the DEI was also updated for 2021 to include nonweighted questions concerning digital and remote accessibility, such as mental wellness benefits, services for Deaf and hard of hearing employees, and flexible work options.

“The Disability Equality Index shines a spotlight on companies that believe they have a stake in creating a more equitable society for people with disabilities. It is a conduit for our work championing disability rights for the 60 million Americans with disabilities and knocking down barriers to employment, technology and healthcare, and we’re thrilled to see the progress being made today,” said Maria Town, president and CEO of American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD).

Globally, the disabled population is over 1 billion strong. Disability is a natural part of the human experience and crosses lines of age, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status and religion.

About the Disability Equality Index®

The Disability Equality Index (DEI) is a comprehensive benchmarking tool that helps companies build a roadmap of measurable, tangible actions that they can take to achieve disability inclusion and equality. The DEI is a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), the nation’s largest disability rights organization, and Disability:IN, the global business disability inclusion network, to collectively advance the inclusion of people with disabilities. The organizations are complementary and bring unique strengths that make the project relevant and credible to corporations and the disability community.
