Data Center Boom Creates Opportunities for Female Technologists
December 18, 2023
TEKsystems and Per Scholas team up to train women seeking careers in tech.
Women represent only 26% of the tech workforce. However, 77% of data center operators report that women represent 10% or less of their workforces.
It’s Time To Close the Gender Gap in Technology
The demand for data centers is soaring. In 2021, the global data center market size was valued at $192.63 billion. Between 2022 and 2030, market size is projected to reach $554.4 billion. While this exponential growth is groundbreaking, it not only leaves organizations in an operations crunch but could also pose a challenge for pursuing DEI efforts and closing the gender gap in technology.
TEKsystems and Per Scholas Build Data Center Technician Training Pathway
Since 2015, TEKsystems has been partnering with Per Scholas to impact lasting change and promote gender equality in the tech industry. With help from Per Scholas, we have been creating customized training based on customer and market demands—all at no cost to the learner. This new training provides learners with hands-on experience of data center connectivity and best practices, and although open to all learners, the trainings are specifically targeted toward promoting gender equity. Training participants gain practical knowledge through real-world labs, rack construction, wiring and troubleshooting techniques that will prepare them for a career in telecommunications and network engineering.
