I could make an earnest point about your talent retention strategies—and how holiday gifts play a part—but I won’t. Because you’re only here to preserve cool boss status, right?
You've come to the right place. As we do every year, we asked IT pros what tech gifts they really want. Here’s what they told us:
Winner: The gift IT workers most covet
Ooh, ooh, you bosses on a budget are in luck this year. While the pricey Surface Books and iPads won IT pros’ hearts the last two years, the $59.99 Nintendo Entertainment System Classic Edition—which comes preloaded with games straight from the 1980s—is the gift IT pros most want now.
But there’s a catch (isn't there always?). Nintendo didn’t count on the overwhelming demand this nostalgia trip would unleash. So while they’re feverishly making more NES Minis, you can only buy from scalpers, er, third party resellers until Nintendo catches up, supposedly this month. In the meantime, keep an eye out for the system in Walmart, Best Buy and GameStop.
Our research shows IT workers generally love photography and the outdoors. So perhaps a $15 subscription to Outdoor Photographer would make you seem thoughtful instead of thrifty?
