HANOVER, MD – July 18, 2012 – TEKsystems®, a leading provider of IT staffing solutions, IT talent management expertise and IT services, today announced findings from two recent studies of more than 1,800 buyers of IT staffing services and 6,100 IT staffing consultants. The surveys focused on understanding what is most important when selecting an IT staffing firm. TEKsystems annually surveys buyers and consultants to identify how to boost overall satisfaction.

Buyers of IT staffing services say the quality of the IT personnel provided is a top value driver. In allocating 100 points across attributes buyers consider when selecting an IT staffing firm, the ability of the firm to provide quality IT personnel receives 46 points in 2012 – compared to 44 points and 45 points in 2011 and 2010, respectively. Buyers give the next most important attribute, pricing/rates, 18 points – this number hasn’t changed since 2010. Other key attributes include the staffing account manager’s service (14 points) and timeliness/speed of filling requirements (14 points).

IT consultants’ criteria for selecting an IT staffing provider are much more dispersed. They allot 23 points to compensation, making it the most important value driver. However, scores for compensation are down from 2010 (34 points) and flat from 2011 (23 points). IT consultants also place significant importance on several other attributes. An IT staffing firm’s ability to match IT professionals with jobs in line with their skills, goals and interests scores 17 points, the ability to keep them consistently employed scores 16 points and a recruiter’s customer service throughout the placement process scores 15 points.

The studies also found several key behaviors are important in driving staffing buyer and consultant satisfaction. For example:

  • Offering insights into local labor market trends – affects buyer satisfaction by 45%
  • Discussing consultant performance and project status on a monthly basis – affects buyer satisfaction by 43%
  • Sharing sufficient details and insight about the job opportunities – affects consultant satisfaction by 47%
  • Contacting me about finding my next job before my assignment ended – affects consultant satisfaction by 31%

“To stay competitive and be the absolute best partners to our clients and our consultants, we are constantly trying to raise the bar in the staffing industry. We depend on our staffing clients and consultants to tell us what they value and where we can improve in our staffing services. Armed with this intelligence, we can make informed decisions about how to enhance our business model to provide the best service to the clients who count on us to achieve their business goals and the consultants who rely on us as passionate career advocates,” comments TEKsystems Director, Rachel Russell.
