Basic concepts of Quality Assurance (QA) and working knowledge of Windows software
This three day class covers the establishment of an Application Framework, using Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) edition (version 12) as the shared repository for project artifacts, and moves on to cover the establishment of a manual test framework and execution of manual Test Sets. This class is geared toward new ALM users, but can also be used as a refresher class for experienced QC users or ALM users upgrading from older versions of QC or Test Director. Participants receive practical instructions on the ALM Project planning and startup tasks required for new ALM Projects and the creation of a test framework. This class examines the core ALM entities and the relationship between these entities and how ALM linkages provide the basis for project monitoring and reporting. HP has removed standard reports and the Document Generator and replaced them with more robust and configurable options and introduced the concept of Business Views. When team members understand the power of custom business views and custom Word Templates, in conjunction with ALM linkages, then they are able to produce the necessary reports and graphs required by all levels of management.
This course is designed for QA Project Managers, Software Development Managers, Test Team Leads, Business Analysts, Testers, and Defect Managers.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Use ALM functionality to establish an effective quality management processes
  • Create and execute manual tests using either the ALM manual runner or Sprinter
  • Understand the relationships created between the various ALM entities and use these relationships to create graphs and reports to convey project status
