Trends Affecting the Healthcare IT Landscape

The U.S. healthcare IT market can expect a 24 percent compound annual rate of growth (CAGR) from 2012 to 2014, according to RNCOS' U.S. Healthcare IT Market Analysis. Global IT spending will grow at a 4.9 percent CAGR from 2012 to 2014, according to Gartner's Forecast Alert: IT Spending Worldwide.

  • HIPAA 5010 compliance by March 31, 2012. Only 4.5 percent of practices rate their HIPAA 5010 implementation status as fully complete.
  • ICD-10 compliance by October 1, 2013. Only 1 percent of organizations are fully ICD-10 compliant.
  • Stage 3 of Meaningful Use needs to be completed by 2016.
