The U.S. Navy Recruiting Command received its “use it or lose it” end-of-year funding in July, which expired on September 30. With just two months left, CSC was contracted by the U.S. Navy to fill its requirement for 26 systems administrators—one for each of the U.S. Navy’s recruiting districts. These positions were deemed critical as these resources were sorely needed to share the workload of the existing systems administrator at each of the 26 locations. There was a sense of urgency to fill these roles because the Navy’s recruiting process is a critical function of naval operations. As such, U.S. Navy recruiters rely heavily on its Intranet system and other key systems that were to be supported by these new systems administrator roles. Due to the nature of the work, all viable candidates had to pass an extensive military background check and must also possess a good driving record.
CSC needed a national staffing partner with a vast network and the ability to rapidly acquire skilled in-demand resources. CSC knew it had found that capability in TEKsystems, as it had partnered with us on similar projects in the past. After gathering CSC’s requirements, we quickly put a plan into action to meet the tight deadline. Our national footprint allowed our recruiters to locate consultants from across the country that were qualified and readily available. Due to our established process for obtaining government security clearances, we were also well-positioned to quickly perform the required background checks.
Post-placement, TEKsystems consultants acted as liaisons between CSC and the site’s commanding officer, providing technical support for all of the local offices in that site’s geographic region. In addition to responsibility for systems and network administration, these individuals provided telephone and PC support for the recruiters and naval staff working out of these offices. Committed to the overall success of our client’s project, TEKsystems provided a dedicated account manager who maintained consistent contact with Navy Recruiting Officers and each consultant placed. these discussions helped to ensure the consultants met deliverables and performance expectations.
Our ability to quickly source, screen and onboard all 26 systems administrators allowed CSC to meet its deadline and ultimately the needs of its end customer. Furthermore, year after year, TEKsystems’ technical consultants have been recipients of prestigious U.S. Navy vendor recognitions such as District Contractor of the Year and even traditional Navy honors like its Naval Challenge Coins. Due to the successful execution of this project, the U.S. Navy extended an offer to CSC to enter into an annual contract, which has been renewed every year. Finally in 2009, CSC won an extended multi-million dollar follow-on contract to continue support through 2014. Based on our superior performance, the Navy also submitted a request to keep the same TEKsystems consultants on staff throughout the duration.
