Hanover, Md. – November 13, 2013 – TEKsystems®, a leading provider of IT staffing solutions, IT talent management expertise and IT services, announced today its inclusion in the 2013 Mercer/Gartner IT Workforce Practices Survey Report. Gartner Inc. sought an interview with TEKsystems to gain perspective into IT labor market trends and best practices when working with external vendors for IT staffing demands. The report provides CIOs and IT and HR leaders with specific insights and advice in the areas of workforce planning, skill sourcing, and assessment, training and development practices that assist in formulating and implementing an effective workforce planning strategy.

Gartner’s case interview with TEKsystems discusses IT workforce management trends, including the rising demand for IT staffing and outsourcing, and how IT roles and skills are driving up talent compensation rates. The study also highlights that ninety-three percent of IT professionals agree that technical IT skills alone won’t guarantee success in the future, as business acumen is a necessary trait to ensure the goals of the organization are understood and top of mind during mission-critical IT initiatives. Further, the interview gives insight into how CIOs and IT leaders can build effective partnerships with IT services firms and details best practices for using staffing firms to fill skills gaps.

"Ninety-four percent of IT leaders say people issues can derail IT projects. IT success relies on proactive workforce planning to ensure organizations have the necessary IT talent in place to do the job right the first time," notes TEKsystems Research Manager Jason Hayman. "We consult with our clients to help them navigate and understand their local labor markets. This knowledge is critical to finding the best candidates and building a high-performance IT team."

"In addition to finding the right talent there are many other elements that impact an organization’s IT workforce, from economic and political factors to advances in hardware and software," says TEKsystems Analyst Relations Manager Karsten Scherer. "As technology accelerates and evolves so do companies’ needs. It’s important to build strong relationships with trusted strategic partners that the organization can leverage to quickly adapt to ever-changing business and IT needs."

The Mercer/Gartner IT Workforce Practices Survey is a joint report conducted annually by Mercer and Gartner. In 2013, 73 organizations from across the U.S. and Canada submitted information for the study. Participants completed an online survey and answered questions about areas such as IT workforce planning and sourcing, difficult-to-recruit IT jobs and skills, turnover rates, headcount projections, salary increase budgets and training spend.
