At the Core

It began with a vision and a passion for partnership.

In 1983, when cousins Steve Bisciotti and Jim Davis found themselves in a basement office in the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland, they didn’t see secondhand office equipment or dusty old phones. Instead, what they saw was the potential to build an innovative company that combined contract engineering with superior customer service. Aerotek was born.

Aerotek paired contract employment with world-class customer service to serve the aerospace engineering industry. The company focused on recruiting people with strong character, high standards and a competitive spirit.

Those same principles were ingrained into the company’s foundation as core values as it continued to grow.

Within the first year of operations, Aerotek earned over

Throughout the remainder of the 1980s, Aerotek developed several subsidiaries that expanded its offerings and footprint, including a new division of the company to serve the IT application development and telecommunication markets. The data services division developed as the IT marketplace grew. The company’s first international operations began in England and Canada.

TEKsystems Emerges

The ‘90s were a transformative era for technology—

the internet boom, telecom expansion and PC revolution completely changed IT infrastructure. With this dynamic expansion came new technology challenges across the world.

The company grew, providing customers and consultants with more value.

Soon after, Aerotek data services and telecommunication divisions, along with Maxim Group, became TEKsystems.

At TEKsystems, customers could find solutions to all their IT problems—from technical staffing to service solutions. Parent company Allegis Group was created, and Aerotek and other divisions remained separate companies.

By 2000, TEKsystems specialization and expertise came into focus, fueling us to become a trusted source for technology services and support.

TEKsystems emerged as a leading provider of full-stack technology services and talent solutions. Growing to more than 100 locations across North America, Europe and Asia, customers partnered with TEKsystems to seize opportunity amidst the rapid pace of emerging technologies and innovation.

This resulted in a comprehensive suite of full-stack expertise delivered in service capabilities directly aligned to current and future customer needs, like moving to the cloud, accelerating agile transformation and redefining cybersecurity processes.
