Our client is a multi-billion-dollar insurer and reinsurer, with presence in over 25 countries across the globe. Their Hong Kong entity has been around for over a century, providing an array of general insurance services to both businesses and individuals.

The challenge: Go Digital or Go Home

Amidst the economic slowdown triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, combined with other market factors, our client’s pool of SME customers looking for general insurance coverage was on the decline. To resolve system performance issues and other existing challenges, our client planned to revamp their agency and customer-facing platforms.

Their global HQ had also allocated several million to the Hong Kong arm of the business to fund digital transformation initiatives across Asia Pacific. There was an additional caveat in place – this budget had to be fully utilised by the year end; otherwise, it would be re-allocated to fund other initiatives.

To expand their delivery capability, our client required a partner who could identify and onboard subject matter experts in different digital skillsets, as quickly as possible. Enter TEKsystems, to power the digitalisation drive at full throttle.

Our proposal: On Time, On Point. Always

First up, TEKsystems partnered with key stakeholders from our client to fully understand the current state, and what their existing capabilities looked like. We then mapped out the key personnel that would be required to execute the transformation on time.

To facilitate ease of communication, TEKsystems deployed a Cantonese-speaking team of five consultants in four weeks, ensuring that they all onboarded before the budget utilisation cutoff. Covering all bases, this high-performance team included UX/UI Designers, Frontend Engineers and Digital Business Analysts, who focused on improving the overall user experience and bridging the gap between different teams.

Being solution-oriented and streamlining processes to make your life easier are embedded in our TEKsystems DNA. With the pandemic restrictions in place, all candidate interviews were conducted in our local office to align with our client’s protocols and tight timelines.

Real-world Results

Our consultants successfully revamped the B2B and B2C portals that featured general insurance products for our client’s SME customers across Hong Kong and Singapore. We released a suite of new products and supported our client in achieving their yearly SME sales target within three months post launch, making a significant business impact. This impact was further recognised at an Asia Pacific summit for insurers where our client received a Digital Claims Award – a testimony of our work in significantly improving their digital claims processes and improving customer experience.

Recognising our specialised capabilities, our client shifted away from their historical reliance on digital agencies to provide UX/UI design services and entrusted TEKsystems as their first external partner to onboard UX/UI designers. Our resources lived up to the promise, setting up and successfully launching our client’s digital design lab, establishing UX/UI design standards, and streamlining processes for future projects.
