OWNING CHANGE IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR
Our client is a leading government agency, responsible for establishing travel safety and security standards across the country.
The challenge:Navigating the Configuration Challenges
To reduce manual processes and centralise information, our client was looking to significantly revamp their primary safety regulation system. They partnered with a Germany-based implementation vendor who were to develop this system using an industry-specific, off-the-shelf software. Although this software had been implemented across 26+ countries worldwide, the challenge was to customise and configure it in compliance with local transport laws and regulations.
To drive this massive programme of work, our client urgently needed to ramp up their IT function with skilled technical and functional resources, who had prior experience in driving system implementations of similar scale and complexity.
Our proposal:Running Point with the Right Expertise
TEKsystems was shortlisted as one of the two preferred vendors to fulfil our client’s resource augmentation needs. To deliver on their requirements, we tapped into our existing networks of pre-qualified talent and utilised a referral-based sourcing approach.
Focus was placed on identifying candidates who had prior experience in running Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or other similar service product implementations. In addition to strong technical expertise, our client was looking for resources with empathy, strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and a passion towards aviation – making them the right culture fit for the worksite.
Our quality-first approach, rigorous up-front screening, and high-touch post-placement service enabled us to save significant time, effort, and administrative burden of our client during the sourcing and screening phase.
Real-world Results
To support this system modernisation initiative, TEKsystems deployed seven seasoned resources, including one Project Manager, three Business Analysts, one Systems Analyst, one Automation Test Analyst, and one Manual Test Analyst. Leveraging their technical expertise and knowledge of best practices, our resources liaised effectively with the vendor team, resolved several blockers, and drove process efficiencies.
Our Automation Test Analyst introduced eight new testing tools, without additional costs, to increase test automation coverage and reduce the heavy workload of manual testing. Our Systems Analyst, who was experienced in running complex D365 implementations, provided oversight of our client’s solutioning vendor, plugged gaps in delivery, and ensured that the programme was set up for success.
As a result of our team’s pivotal contributions, the first phase of the programme has been successfully completed. Five modules have been developed and tested end-to-end, and subsequently rolled out to the business. The remaining phases of the programme are on track to be completed in 2025.
