OWNING CHANGE IN TRAVEL AND LEISURE
Our client is a leading travel technology company that owns and operates travel fare aggregators and metasearch engines across 70+ countries worldwide.

The challenge:Compromised Customer Experience
Following a significant IT restructuring, our client decided to scale down their Software Development Engineers in Test (SDET) roles, moving the responsibility of testing user stories and application modules to their Software Developers. However, this move led to numerous technical issues and glitches in the production environments, resulting in a compromised user experience and massive revenue losses for our client. The development team’s focus on critical testing scenarios for high-value initiatives was also affected, which hindered performance and delayed delivery.
To address these bottlenecks, our client needed to revamp their team structure and processes and enhance their Quality Centre of Excellence (QCoE) with automation testing capabilities. High-calibre SDETs needed to be deployed locally, as they planned to transition their primary testing team from the US to India.
Our proposal:Agile Testing for Seamless Travel Booking

Leveraging our long-standing strategic partnership, our delivery team collaborated with key stakeholders from the QCoE to conduct a gap analysis, assessing their current state and identifying the desired future state of their testing capabilities. Bringing in specialised technical expertise to implement the Quadrant 3 (Q3) testing methodology, an Agile testing approach used by the Big Tech giants, was mission-critical.
TEKsystems leveraged our extensive pre-qualified networks to quickly identify top-notch consultants who aligned with our client’s requirements, technical stack, and dynamic culture. To support their QCoE ramp-up, we deployed two high-performance squads of skilled SDETs. Each squad comprised ten SDETs, managed by a SDET Lead to provide oversight, develop technical frameworks, and ensure alignment with cross-functional stakeholders. Our rigorous up-front screening was key to maximising the quality-of-hire while minimising the time-to-productivity.

Real-world Results
TEKsystems’ SDET consultants made notable contributions in elevating our client’s automation testing processes, developing new frameworks, and instilling best practices to improve efficiencies and boost test coverage. Test case failure rates have reduced as the Q3 testing methodology has supported over ten critical lines of business in running Agile application development and other major digital initiatives.
With additional capacity and enhanced automation testing capabilities in place, our client has successfully established a high-performing and scalable QCoE. This has positioned them to complete pipelined initiatives on time and within budget. In addition to delivering best-in-class results for tier-1 projects, our teams are now collaborating with the QCoE leadership to elevate testing processes, technical standards, and operational excellence for tier-2 and tier-3 projects.
