The challenge: Data Platform Modernisation to Enhance Customer Experience
As part of their user acquisition and strategic growth roadmap, our customer kickstarted a flagship initiative to develop a best-in-class online travel booking platform on Azure cloud, engineered to support their global operations at scale. From booking low-cost passenger flights to bundled corporate travel packages, they wanted to increase the visibility and accessibility of their service offerings, deliver a seamless user experience, and drive repeat purchases.
Success hinged on modernising the underlying data platform and analytics architecture to deliver reliable insights across booking, customer and operational datasets. However, existing reporting and analytics capabilities lacked a unified foundation and relied heavily on legacy data flows, constraining visibility and impeding decision-making. Enabling real-time insights and scalable reporting demanded a revamped data foundation with optimised BI architecture and interactive dashboards.
Constrained by limited internal capacity and budget, our customer sought proven BI expertise to power the platform's data and analytics ambitions.

TEKsystems partnered with key programme stakeholders to scope the implementation roadmap and assess the maturity of the existing data ecosystem. To bridge the identified capability gaps, we deployed a five-member squad to co-design a mature, Azure-integrated data processing, analysis and visualisation engine, capable of driving informed decision-making at scale.
- BI Architecture Design: Defined and implemented an end-to-end BI architecture leveraging Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Power BI.
- Data Modelling: Designed curated data models optimised for analytics, consolidating booking, customer, and operational data into trusted datasets.
- Power BI Dashboarding: Developed enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards with optimised semantic models, ensuring fast query performance, consistent metrics, and intuitive user experience.
- Analytics Optimisation: Implemented scalable transformation logic and analytics patterns to support advanced reporting and operational insights.
- Enterprise BI Enablement: Scaled the data architecture to support Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations reporting using Power BI Dataflows and Azure Data Lake.
