Job Summary

Position Summary:

Responsible for providing architecture, vision, problem anticipation, and problem solving as it relates to the company's security posture. The individual in this position anticipates IT industry future directions and relates to future architecture needs and projects. The position involves interfacing across several functions, acting as a visionary to proactively assist during the definition of design of future projects. The Individual must remain continuously aware of security, business, technical, and infrastructure issues and acts as a sounding board or consultant to aid in the development for shaping future solutions.

Key Duties / Responsibilities
Stay current with evolving threats and changes to the security landscape. Research latest solutions and provide insight to management for where the company should be concerned in both the current and future states.

Assess and document current security architectural environment. Recommend correction and change of situations that might present immediate critical exposures or improvement opportunities.

Provide continuous support in working with customers, staff and vendors to determine the most secure business solutions. Evaluate new products and projects to ensure compatibility with our environment. Develop new security architectures and integrate with current structure.

Revise security documents for corrections, enhancements, or system environment changes working with other IT personnel as required. Recommends additional policies or processes as required.

Education & Knowledge Required
A Bachelor's degree is required with a degree in Computer Science, Information Security or Information Assurance preferred. A person in this position requires strong technical skills in networking, operating systems, and programming. It is generally desirable for a person in this position to be currently (or reasonably capable of achieving certification in a reasonable period of time) CISSP or CISM certified or possess a technical certification such as Security +, CCSP or GSEC is considered a plus. Usually 6-9 years of experience

Experience / Skills / Abilities Required
Previous Experience - A person in this position should have at least 6-7 years of direct experience in applying information security related job skills. Additional security experience can be considered in lieu of certification or education on a case by case basis.

Risk Management Experience - A person in this position must understand the concepts of organizational risk management and be capable of supporting a formal enterprise risk management process focused on security.

Policy and Processes - The Security Architect must be familiar with policy, standard, and procedure development. This person must have a thorough understanding of the implementation and maintenance of security processes. The Security Architect must have the ability to identify business needs, convert them to risks and develop documentation.
