Job Summary



I am working with a client in Lincoln, NE who is seeking a Manager of Software Development to help drive the business by managing a team of professionals with an assigned focus. This position is accountable for the satisfaction of business partners within assigned areas. Generally, this is accomplished through planning partners and Unit leaders. Direct accountability may be assigned in certain circumstances.

Position Details

*Manages professional employees and/or supervisors, providing detailed guidance to direct reports with regard to specific priorities and ensuring tasks are completed according to department standards.
*Accountable for the performance of operational support, technologies, or applications developed, as well as the satisfaction of partners and clients. Inherent in this accountability is adherence to IT standards and guidelines.
*Demonstrates, by actions, a commitment to IT directions and strategies. Ensures directions and strategies are appropriately incorporated into team deliverables.
*Works with IT management team to promote effective communication, maintains understanding of priorities and ensures technical translation of business requirements into cost effective business & system solutions.
*Applies business and management expertise to drive financial and operational performance. This is accomplished through partnerships with members of the IT Management Team and key stakeholders in each of the business lines.
*Respect for what each team contributes. Team members need to stretch themselves to learn how and why other disciplines think the way they do. It also helps to invest time in getting to know each other's background and interests.
*Applies expert knowledge of and experience with project management methodologies, as well as IT and business knowledge to manage cross-project coordination and interdependencies to provide oversight of progress for critical initiatives. Actively ensures projects are on track and provides value to project managers in resolving project and cross-project issues.
*Ensures timely completion of team or project resource planning, providing consistently reliable estimates. Provides estimates for annual planning process. Reviews estimated-to-actual results to ensure increasing accuracy of future estimates.
*Contributes to the development of the team annual plan and budget. Special emphasis on resource planning and utilization is expected.
*Forecasts resource needs; manages allocated budget.
* Applies to assignments expert knowledge of Company tools, practices, standards and policies, I.T. tools, practices, policies and system structure.

General Requirements

*Four year degree in Computer Science preferred or equivalent work experience
*Minimum of five years experience in current IT discipline with minimum ten years experience in IT-related profession
*Ability to manage and monitor multiple complex initiatives
*Team skills include brainstorming, listening, asking clarifying questions, seeking consensus
*Excellent oral and written communication and listening skills
*Demonstrates strong analytic and problem-solving abilities and strong organizational skills
*Associate is expected to pursue ongoing education as outlined in annual performance plan
*Ability to support an enterprise with diverse technical environment and business environment
*Facilitation, conflict resolution and teamwork skills are essential
*A high degree of collaboration with direct reports and peers in other teams is required



Technical Requirements

*Proven success leading Green Field Development projects
*Demonstrated success in leading Agile / SCRUM & Waterfall teams
*Advanced knowledge of software development and application design
*Advanced knowledge of JAVA / Object Oriented Programming / Spring
*Advanced knowledge of JavaScript Frameworks
*Advanced knowledge of Web and Applications Servers
*Advanced knowledge of Web Services
*Advanced knowledge of Application Security
*Working knowledge of various operating systems
*Working knowledge of various databases
*Working knowledge of Docker a plus
*Working knowledge of ElkStack a plus
*Working knowledge of cloud providers like AWS a plus
*Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple assignments on a daily basis and meet defined delivery deadlines
