HANOVER, MD – August 23, 2012 – TEKsystems®, a leading provider of IT staffing solutions, IT talent management expertise and IT services, today announced results from a recent survey of 472 .NET professionals conducted as a part of the company’s “voice of the customer” program. TEKsystems defined .NET Professionals as developers with competencies in .NET, SQL Server, Visual Basic, C++, ASP.NET and C#.NET. TEKsystems’ Microsoft Support Services division regularly researches the Microsoft technology landscape to ensure its services are positioned to expertly address client demands.

Sixty-six percent of respondents say the developer workforce will trend more towards utilizing Microsoft technologies in the future. While the survey is just a small slice of the developer community, it supports TEKsystems’ movement to provide more specialized services specific to Microsoft technologies.

“We support customers that are on various technologies aside from Microsoft. However, we see Microsoft becoming more popular among businesses and IT professionals alike. With technologies changing constantly, it is critical for us to be able to provide our clients with managed services and a workforce dedicated to staying on top of the latest trends with Microsoft technologies,” says TEKsystems Vice President, Dan Feingold.

According to the TEKsystems survey, 63% of developers agree that Microsoft has become the more reliable and realistic option for CIOs over the past 10 years. Some of the primary reasons why the majority of developers agree Microsoft presents a better option is its lower cost, the stability of Microsoft, the robust Microsoft Services support network, Microsoft’s ease of use and the reliability.

“Organizations must evaluate which software technology is the right solution for them. To support our customers who choose Microsoft, our expertise and access to talented IT professionals in application development, database systems, data warehousing and BI, as well as SharePoint is critical to getting IT initiatives done well,” comments Feingold.

Of the survey respondents, 59% say high demand has the most impact on their decision to follow a career path in applications development for Microsoft rather than other technologies. Greater job market opportunities (51%), stability of the .NET framework (49%), ease of use (39%) and interesting work (36%) round out the top five reasons respondents pursue careers in applications development for Microsoft. Further, more than half of developers say the most appealing aspects of working in the Microsoft .NET framework are the opportunity to work with exciting/cutting edge technologies (70%), salary/pay (63%), interesting work (53%) and stability/job security (50%).

“If you look at what makes any IT initiative successful, it is the people. Understanding what specifically makes them tick and being able to speak to them in their language is extremely important if you want to find and retain the best. Because the needs and wants of IT professionals vary from group to group it is critical to gain a deep understanding of what is most important to developers in the Microsoft space. From there, we ensure our services are positioned to meet the goals of both Microsoft clients and IT professionals,” concludes Feingold.
