TEKsystems Named One of the Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion

July 26, 2022 | HANOVER, MD

For the fourth straight year, TEKsystems achieved a top score in the Disability Equality Index

TEKsystems®, a global provider of technology, business and talent solutions for more than 80% of the Fortune 500, today announced it has been named as a top scorer in the 2022 Disability Equality Index® “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion” by the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and Disability:IN®.

TEKsystems has always been committed to creating an inclusive work environment where employees with different abilities contribute to business success. Among the company’s policies and programs, TEKsystems offers a variety of employee resource groups (ERGs) and employee networks (ENs) to foster an inclusive workplace, such as ENABLED, an affinity group that empowers differently abled individuals in the workplace. Additionally, TEKsystems supports local charities and communities through their match assistance program and corporate partnerships with organizations such as, but not limited to, the Association of University Centers on Disabilities, Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation and Foundation Fighting Blindness.

“We know achieving diversity in technology doesn’t happen overnight and will not happen just by hoping or talking about it,” said Franklin Reed, executive director of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity at TEKsystems. “At TEKsystems, we are intentional about our diverse talent acquisition strategies, including diversely abled people in the workplace, because our differences are our strengths. Creating a disability-friendly culture allows us to hire and retain diverse talent that inspires creative and innovative approaches to achieving solutions for our customers.”

The Disability Equality Index® (DEI) is the world’s most comprehensive benchmarking tool for the Fortune 1000 and Am Law 200 (America’s top 200 revenue grossing law firms) to measure disability workplace inclusion against competitors. The DEI was created by the DEI Advisory Committee, a diverse group of business leaders, policy experts and disability advocates. Now in its eighth year, the DEI exists to help businesses make a positive impact on the unemployment/underemployment of people with disabilities. The 2022 DEI measured:

  • Culture and leadership
  • Enterprisewide access
  • Employment practices, such as benefits, recruitment and education
  • Community engagement
  • Supplier diversity
  • Non-U.S. operations

In 2022, the DEI included new, nonweighted leadership questions about including disability in corporate board diversity criteria.

“There is no single best way to practice disability inclusion; however, the companies taking the DEI share the desire to create a workplace that fosters the concept of bringing your whole self to the office,” said Maria Town, president and CEO of AAPD. “We look forward to working with all of the participants to help identify meaningful ways to build upon their current practices as we continue on the disability inclusion journey together.”

Globally, people with disabilities represent over 1 billion people. Disability is a natural part of the human experience, and it crosses lines of age, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status and religion.

About the Disability Equality Index®

The Disability Equality Index (DEI) is a comprehensive benchmarking tool that helps companies build a roadmap of measurable, tangible actions that they can take to achieve disability inclusion and equality. The organizations are complementary and bring unique strengths that make the project relevant and credible to corporations and the disability community. The tool was developed by the DEI Advisory Committee, a diverse group of business leaders, policy experts, and disability advocates. Learn more at: www.DisabilityEqualityIndex.org.
