Hanover, Md. – April 29, 2015 – TEKsystems®, a leading provider of IT staffing solutions, IT talent management expertise and IT services, released new research on Big Data initiatives in March that reported 96 percent of IT leaders expect hiring for Big Data positions to increase or stay the same in 2015. TEKsystems will be discussing the rest of the findings at SAPPHIRE NOW and ASUG Annual Conference, the premier event for business professionals and SAP users.
More than 200 IT leaders, including CIOs, IT VPs, IT directors and IT hiring managers were surveyed. Key highlights include:
- Sixty-one percent of IT leaders expect spending on Big Data to increase, while a mere 5 percent expect decreases.
- The main approaches IT leaders identified to address Big Data skills gaps include training/development and realignment of existing staff (42 percent), hiring contingent staff (35 percent), hiring full-time staff (29 percent) and outsourcing (20 percent).
- According to IT leaders, the top three most difficult-to-fill roles are Big Data architects, data scientists and data modelers.
The full results of the research will be available at TEKsystems’ booth No. 1212 or at TEKsystems.com.
TEKsystems SAP Support Services will be exhibiting at the conference to provide attendees insight into effective IT talent management practices that are critical to closing skills gaps as they pertain to SAP-related Big Data initiatives. TEKsystems will also discuss Big Data hiring trends, greatest challenges to extracting value from Big Data and the most critical skills to building great Big Data teams.
"Over the past couple of years we've seen organizations mature in their approaches to Big Data; however we continue to see them struggle with the most important aspects of investing in Big Data. All too often we see organizations jump straight into the technologies with great excitement before they ask the right questions to understand the desired business outcomes and strategically plan how to build the best IT workforce," says TEKsystems ERP, CRM and BI Support Services Manager, Jennifer Kling. "Too often organizations delay their workforce needs until it is too late, handicapping them from realizing the prospects that Big Data can deliver. With a core focus on building great teams, organizations will always yield better results than solely focusing on the technology."
The SAPPHIRE NOW and ASUG Annual Conference takes place May 5-7 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
